In 42%of those states, the\u00a0drought conditions are considered \u201csevere, extreme\u00a0or exceptional.\u201d In addition, 53% of the country was\u00a0in moderate drought or worse.<\/p>\n<p>The majority of the country\u2019s corn and soybean\u00a0acres are affected, and while it\u2019s too early to predict\u00a0the full extent of agricultural damage, based on\u00a0weather data, the losses will likely be greater than\u00a02011 and could rival the flood losses of 1993.
