{"id":3381,"date":"2012-10-02T15:22:49","date_gmt":"2012-10-02T15:22:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ncis.staging.wpengine.com\/?p=3381"},"modified":"2012-10-02T15:22:49","modified_gmt":"2012-10-02T15:22:49","slug":"new-video-offers-insight-into-dramatic-losses-in-the-heartland","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iripreviewsite.com\/cropinsuranceinamerica\/new-video-offers-insight-into-dramatic-losses-in-the-heartland\/","title":{"rendered":"New video offers insight into dramatic losses in the Heartland"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>OVERLAND PARK, KAN. \u2014 With the vast majority of the U.S. corn, cotton, soybean and sorghum crops yet to be harvested, crop insurance companies have already paid out nearly $2 billion in indemnities to farmers who have suffered losses this year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAmerica\u2019s heartland has taken a beating from Mother Nature and the crop insurance industry is committed to servicing the nation&#8217;s farmers and getting indemnity payments into the hands of policyholders as quickly as possible,\u201d said Tom Zacharias, president of National Crop Insurance Services (NCIS). Zacharias noted that the industry\u2019s 5,000 claims adjusters are working day and night to expedite claims for farmers who have suffered from this year&#8217;s drought.<\/p>\n<p>A new NCIS <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=jW0uRhcifEs&feature=share&list=UUKSxH75K19DJr-KyAp5dBUA\" target=\"_blank\">video <\/a>offers unique insight into the direct impact of the drought, featuring testimonials from farmers and crop insurance agents who discuss the heartbreaking destruction and losses they have witnessed this year. \u201cGoing out in the fields this year is a thoroughly depressing experience,\u201d said David Andris, a farmer from Milford, Illinois. Andris described the disappointment of spending significant time and resources to get a crop into the ground and manage it over the growing season only to see if fail. \u201cIt\u2019s like digging a hole and then filling it in,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Illinois Crop insurance agent Todd Harris explained that most of the farmers in his area have never had a claim.
