{"id":9594,"date":"2018-05-01T13:20:06","date_gmt":"2018-05-01T18:20:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/72.52.184.4\/~cropinsuranceina\/?p=9594"},"modified":"2018-05-01T13:21:58","modified_gmt":"2018-05-01T18:21:58","slug":"farmers-urge-congress-to-back-crop-insurance-in-new-video","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/iripreviewsite.com\/cropinsuranceinamerica\/farmers-urge-congress-to-back-crop-insurance-in-new-video\/","title":{"rendered":"Farmers Urge Congress to Back Crop Insurance in New Video"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>For more than a year, farmers from across the country have urged the U.S. House Agriculture Committee to maintain a strong crop insurance system in the 2018 Farm Bill.\u00a0 And now, you can hear the farmers\u2019 messages in their own words.<\/p>\n<p>The Committee on Tuesday released a <a href=\"http:\/\/portal.criticalimpact.com\/go\/1\/bbf3c24bb7fe3982a6473c7b9fa19141\/29371\/3a11fdcbc51fff98\/673b42180f38cb213947229f28c3afba\">video\u00a0testimony<\/a> from its nationwide hearings that details the job-saving benefits of the public-private partnership of crop insurance to American farmers.<\/p>\n<p>The one-minute clip takes viewers to testimony last year in Minnesota, New York, California, Florida, Texas and Illinois.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPersonally, I was involved in a hail storm this year where we lost the corn and the beans on one farm,\u201d said one farmer. \u201cWe are not going to make any money at that this year, but we will be able to farm again next year because of those risk management tools.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCrop insurance is indispensable and all I am going to say here is, it is absolutely critical,\u201d another added.<\/p>\n<p>One farmer finished his testimony with a clear request to the Committee.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to leave you with six easy words to remember,\u201d he said.\u00a0 \u201cCrop Insurance. Safety net.
